about

Total time: 44 minutes

8000 Miles' first album Aggregate ranges in a variety of rock styles, from intense to thoughtful to relaxing. Rebecca, in Hawaii, and Andrea, in Italy, have learned exceedingly well how to create richly textured songs that tell stories even without lyrics.

1. The lead-off cut, Together We Learn, is a bright example of their willingness to work together early in their partnership to blend their individual styles. The journey begins with a complex vibe that opens up many possibilities.

2. Rebecca’s An Optimist In A Hurricane is the song that first caught Andrea’s imagination when he heard it in 2020 and that ignited the rocket ship that has carried the two ever since. The hurricane winds blow, danger is near, hang on and your spirit will prevail.

3. Then for a bit of a rest, A Lighter Turn Of Day, settles into a calmer more reflective state as Andrea, ever the master of tone and timing, lays beautiful intertwining guitar work on the bed Rebecca made.

4. The excitement returns and runs deep in Running In-Between, as the party once again spills out to the streets, with Andrea’s high energy guitar duels and Rebecca’s lively keys.

5. The dramatic Sunrise Above The Clouds is a mini opera of several movements with a rockin’ mid-section as they explore the majestic view from on high.

6. Followed by The Winning, which is pure rock anthem exhilaration, as the guitar takes the melody into the 5th dimension — playing off of fifths.

7. Midnight Departure is a peek into Rebecca’s darker self, as she beacons Andrea to come into the darkness with her, and he does, bleeding on his guitar in soaring angst. Not to worry, a positive note was found in the end.

8. Remaining in a mood of apprehension, Driving Past Checkpoints brings us to the edge of our seats with a suspenseful 6/8 timing and wailing guitars that push on no matter what credentials should be presented to the guard.

9. After all the upheaval, we are treated to an epic rock ballad, Dawn Of The Ancients, choir and all, in which we journey back through time to grand elemental beginnings and dreams of what may be.

10. As if that delight would last, Didn’t See It Coming begins one way and will surprise in its twisted augmented version of reality, where once again Rebecca asks Andrea to delve into darkness, this time touched with insanity, and once again Andrea played with meaningful abandon.

11. And in the end … By Candlelight reflects on the making of their first album in a story of taking it all in, being calm, allowing the flame to mesmerize, and drifting off into blissfulness.

about

8000 Miles

8000 Miles is the distance between Rebecca in Hawaii and Andrea in Italy. Both have rock backgrounds and have joined forces to create an elegant blend of progressive & hard rock, with shiny metal bits, layered in symphonic lushness. Andrea brings his Strat, Les Paul, & Ibanez guitars to the party, while Rebecca provides all things synthy & virtual. Together, they deliver Music beyond Barriers. ... more
